He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Francis Mitchell and Beulah Maude Carpenter Mitchell. He is survived by: his wife Cathryn "Cathy" Thompson Mitchell; his children, Daniel "Danny" Roy Mitchell (Kimberly) and Deborah "Debbie" May Ward (Matt); his stepson Matthew Meehan; his grandchildren, Jake, Jenna Mitchell, Joshua (Olivia), Caleb, Luke, Thomas, Anna and Rachel Ward; his great grandchildren, Ava and Emma Ward; and his sister Barbara Welch (Barb).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Vidalia Rotary Club to establish the Bill Mitchell scholarship.
