He was predeceased by : his brothers, Calvin Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, Edwin Johnson and Ralph Johnson; and his daughter Anna Duke Plummer.

He is survived by : his wife Elizabeth Gregory Johnson; his children, Katherine E. Johnson (Christine), Richard Johnson (Chris) and Maxwell Duke (Kelly); his grandchildren, Laura Elkins, Jonathan Enyart (Adrienne), Christopher Enyart and Lucas Duke; and his great grandchildren, Alana Enyart and Ash Enyart.
