He was predeceased by: his parents, William Patrick Smith and Coralie Stevens Smith; his former wife Diane Cobb Smith; his sister Patricia Smith Edwards; and his great grandchild Lucy Sue Oglesby.
He is survived by: his wife Judith Bettilu Morris Smith; his children, Lynne Oglesby (Chris) and Charles Edward Smith, Jr. (Melinda); his stepchildren, Darryl Morris, Dwayne Morris (Sherri) and Michele Brassell; his grandchildren, Jennifer Gillooly (Kyle), Adam Oglesby (Lyndsey), Brittney Smith, Betsy Brown, Tom Oglesby (Kelly), Kristen Black (Jon), Dr. Charlotte Hand (Carson) and Charles "Tripp" Edward Smith III; his great grandchildren, Grant Gillooly, Diana Kate Gillooly, McKenna Oglesby, Blakely Oglesby, Marlow Oglesby, Maddux Black, Ellena Black and Baby Hand; and his brother Wynder Smith. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Moxley Methodist Church (36 W Calhoun St, Wadley, GA 30401). A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
