He was predeceased by: his parents, Rufus Messer and Ethel Mae Messer Forrester; and his wife Gloria. He is survived by: his children, Charles E. Messer (Vanessa) of Warner Robins and Christina M. O'Brien (Mike) of Warner Robins; his grandchildren, Tia Messer, Kayla Shumway (Chris), Tyler Messer and Torrey Messer (Erin); his great grandchildren, Joseph Messer, Elliana Messer Ostrow, Levi Messer, John Tyler Messer, Joshua Messer, Isaac Messer and William Shumway; and his sisters, Lucille Garrett and Louann Duckett.
