He is survived by: his wife Jo Ann Harper Kovac; and his children, Karen Swafford (Dan), David Dimsdale (Julie), Dwayne Dimsdale (Chelsey) and Joe Kovac Jr. (Christy). He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Kovac's family requests that donations in his memory be made to Habitat for Humanity.
