He is survived by: his sons, John Courson Jr. (Traci) and William Joseph Courson (Eleana); his daughter-in-law Cindy Courson; his daughters, Kimberly Buckley (Dylan) and Melissa Godbee (Matt); his siblings, Glynn Courson, Joseph "Ronnie" Courson (Debbie), Kimball Courson (Sally), Pansy Hall, Gayle Livingston and Vickie Courson; his grandchildren, Chelsea Heltsey (Sean), Erica Courson, Victoria Horton (Grant), Hannah Courson (Easton), Sophia Courson, Taylor Fleet (Tyler), Illynger Engle (Jordon), Kaleigh Rogers-Chaffin (Jesse), Joshua Courson (Carlie), Morgan Courson (Devin), Lana Buckley (Sam), Reagan Buckley, Weston Buckley, Brantley Godbee, Alexa Godbee, Claire Godbee, Aspen Godbee and Dakota Godbee; and his great grandchildren, Sean Rogers, Jr. (SJ), Evelyn Courson (Evie), Elodie Courson (Ellie), Thomas D. Chaffin (Declan), Rylea Lazenby, Ryder Lazenby, Kohen Horton, Staussi McAlpin, Knox White, Noah Engle and Dylan Engle. He is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the McCullough Funeral Home. A funeral service was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of McCullough Funeral Home. A burial was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens (7070 Houston Rd, Macon, GA 31216).
