He was predeceased by : his parents, James Morgan Byrd and Gladys Bell Bennett; his wife Cynthia Ann Leverett Byrd; his son John Byrd, Jr.; and his granddaughter Haley D. Byrd.

He is survived by : his son Dewayne Byrd; his grandson Dylan Byrd; his nieces, Haroldene Davis and Teresa Davis; his nephew Robbie Daniels; and his brother-in-law William "Billy" Burke.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 13th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Calendar McCullough Funeral Home (417 S Houston Lake Rd, Warner Robins, GA 31088). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 13th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
