He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin "Hoppy" McAvoy and Oleta Echols McAvoy; and his brother Bruce. He is survived by: his wife Beth Dunagan McAvoy; his children, Morgan M. Lawson (Tim) of Tignall and Charlie McAvoy (Camille) of Washington; his stepson Conrad Richards (Alyson) of Greensboro; his siblings, Roger McAvoy (Jennifer) of Washington and Susan Swantner (Michael) of Corpus Christi, TX.; and his grandchildren, John David Lawson, Jacob Lawson, Lane McAvoy, Hayes McAvoy, Nora Belle Richards, James Richards, Will Lawson (Harley) and Clay Lawson (Meredith). He is also survived by his family, friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Residence of David and Beth McAvoy (1188 Happy Hollow Rd, Washington, GA 30673). A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 at 12:00 PM.
His contributions to the family farm spanned nearly 50 years, a legacy of perseverance and passion that will be remembered by all who knew him.
