She was predeceased by: her parents, Herbert J. Sharp, Sr. and Annie Lee McDonald Sharp; and her siblings, Herbert Sharp, Jr. of Elijay, GA and Polly Sue Benson of Pittsburg, PA.. She is survived by: her husband Dr. Howard T. Abney; her daughters, Lee Anne Abney and Mary Rathbone; her sons-in-law, Alan and Russ; her grandchildren, Charlotte, Lily, Emma Mills, Chloe Rathbone and Carter Mills; and her sibling's children, Stacy Morgan, Scott Sharp of Ellijay, Beth Christianson and Sarah Benson of Pittsburg, PA..
A burial will be held on Friday, November 7th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Oconee Hill Cemetery (297 Cemetery St, Athens, GA 30605). A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 7th 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Watkinsville First Baptist Church (1610 Simonton Bridge Rd, Watkinsville, GA 30677).
