He was predeceased by: his parents, Dewey R. Chaney, Sr. and Lucinda Goff Chaney; his former wife Johnnie Faye Chaney; his son Patrick Chaney; and his sisters, Nell C. Wooten and Mae C. Harper.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia B. Chaney of Waverly, GA; his children, Michelle C. Selhorst (Kevin) of Norfolk, VA and Rodney Chaney (Carolyn) of West Green, GA; and his stepdaughter Jessica Nicole Strickland (Elmer) of Waynesville, GA. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
