With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Katherine Louise Sills Smith (Waycross, Georgia), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 20, 2026 at the age of 88. She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Manning "Joe" Sills and Avie Jordan Sills; her husband John Winston "J. W." Smith, Sr.; her great grandchild Lyla Jane McKenzie; and her siblings, Effie Scott, Grace Hooper, Josephine Turner and Edward Sills.

She is survived by: her children, John W. Smith, Jr. (Karen) of Suwanee, William Joseph Smith (Nida) of Waycross and Diane Croy (Steve) of Atlantic Beach, Florida; her grandchildren, Dustin Smith (Laura), Winston Smith, Seth Smith (Meredith), Will Smith, Jr. (Bailey), Brett Croy and Bailee Croy McKenzie (Mac); her great grandchildren, Madison Welch-Voltz, Sadie Smith, Cole Smith, Mary Claire Smith, Asa Smith, Sawyer Smith, Finlee Smith, Lilly Katherine Smith, Maeve Katherine Smith and Cora Rose Smith; and her sister Colleen Barnard of Waycross. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
