He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Greene Sheffield and Lessie Lenora Hubbard Sheffield; his daughter Sheila Johnson; his grandson Zac Sheffield; and his siblings, Shirley Crawford and Lewis O. Sheffield.
He is survived by: his wife Merita "Lynn" Sheffield of Blackshear; his children, April Helms (Chris) of Lincoln, AL, Dan Sheffield (Greta) of McDonough, GA, Paul Sheffield (Bridget) of Valdosta, GA and Joshua Strickland (Tori) of Darien, GA; and his brother Benji Sheffield (Patsy) of Hahira, GA. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; multiple great grandchildren.
