He was predeceased by: his parents, John A. Knowles and Beatrice Griffin Woods; his adoptive parents, Frealy Henry Bowers and Edna Louise Swarringim Bowers; his siblings, Mary Hancock, Kenneth Bowers, Paul Bowers and Harold Bowers; and his pet Andy, Jr..
He is survived by: his siblings, Frieda Douberly (David) of Blackshear, Thieda Davis (David) of Blackshear and Roy Bowers of Blackshear; and his siblings-in-law, Pam Bowers of Yulee, Peggy Bowers of Nahunta and Buddy Hancock of Blackshear. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
