We bid farewell to Virgil Leo Sweat Sr. of Waycross, Georgia, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on June 14, 2025 at the age of 91. Virgil Leo touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, James Estell Sweat and Emma Waters Sweat; his wife Annie Colleen James Sweat; and his siblings, Juanita Sowell, Emmalene McDaniel and James Sweat.
He is survived by: his children, Virgil Leo Sweat, Jr. (Paula) of Nahunta and Lisa Sweeting (Robert) of Waycross; his grandchildren, Miranda Bowen (Daniel) of Alma, Holli Sweat of Waycross, Shane Wilson of Waycross, Haley Tiner (Tyler) of Dixie Union and Karleigh Sweat of Nahunta; his great grandchildren, Eli, Anna Jade, Brayden, Jett, Maddy, Ally, Sawyer and Rowan; and his siblings, Wilma Murray of Waycross, Ruth Thomas of Waycross, Sadie Musgrove (Harvey) of Millwood and Tommy Sweat (Jean) of Waycross. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 17th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Miles-Odum Funeral Home and Crematory (130 Screven Ave, Waycross, GA 31501). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Mount Green Church of God of Prophecy (1735 Mt Green Rd, Manor, GA 31550).
