He was predeceased by: his parents, Martha Etta Lovett Mead and John Gordon Mead; his granddaughter Claire Johnson; and his siblings, Harriett O'Pry, Mary Forehand, Christine Tanner, Minnie Jenkins, Martha Ann Daniel, Jackie Robbins, Robert, Thomas and Lovett Mead.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia; his daughter Millie Johnson (Rudy); and his grandsons, Christopher and Taylor. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 14th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Deloach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home (220 E 6th St, Waynesboro, GA 30830). A funeral service was held on Friday, November 14th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, November 14th 2025 at the Burke Memorial Gardens (Waynesboro, GA 30830).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Vision Fund of Rosemont Baptist Church, 522 Hwy 25 North, Waynesboro, GA 30830.
