She was predeceased by: her parents, Forest Phillip Cawley, Sr. and Ruth Inez Odom Cawley; her husband Felton Carter; her siblings, Emma Ruth Cawley Maffett and Forest Phillip Cawley Jr.; her siblings-in-law, Mary Ann Cawley and Jack Maffett; her niece Allyson Maffett; her nephew Forest Phillip Cawley III; and her son-in-law Mike Godfrey.
She is survived by: her children, Douglas Carter (Beth), Mike Carter (Debi) and Carol Carter Godfrey; her grandchildren, Jessica C. Sellars (Johnathan), Jason Carter (Danielle), Robert Carter (Lauren), Miranda Jatindranath (Stefan) and Ethan Crosby (Samantha); and her great grandchildren, Reed, June, Nathan Sellars, Griffin Barlow, Tristan Crosby, Alea Carter, Liam Hembree, Harbor Carter, Leon and Josiah Jatindranath.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be sent to Hospice Satilla in memory of Mardelle Carter.
