He was predeceased by : his parents, Eva Mae Sharp Cole and Dr. Thomas Winston Cole, Sr.. He is survived by : his wife Judge Brenda Hill Cole; his sisters, JoAnn Cole Weeks, Eva Cole Harper and Patricia Cole; his children, Kelley Cole Graham (Romero) and Thomas III; his granddaughters, Ava Margaret Graham and Samantha Brynn Graham; his nieces, Babette Weeks, Tahra Edwards Nichols and Keisha Edwards Hunt (Eric); and his nephew Stanton Weeks.
He also served as Director of the Atlanta Resource Center for Science and Engineering (1979-1982), the first of three centers established in the United States by the National Science Foundation.
