He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas H. Cherry, Sr. and Artie Cantrell Cherry; his former wife Glennon Hampton Cherry of Hoschton, GA; and his sister Gwen Cherry Barnes of Old Hickory, TN.. He is survived by: his wife Judy Sylvester Boothe; his brother Thomas H. Cherry, Jr. of Hendersonville, TN; his sons, Jim Cherry, Jr. (Helen) of Winder, GA and Steve Cherry (Tina) of Franklin, TN; and his grandchildren, Adam Cherry of Flowery Branch, GA, Elena Cherry of Winder, GA, Parker Cherry of Franklin, TN and Hunter Cherry (Judy) of Franklin, TN.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Whistleville Christian Church (83 Patrick Ml Rd SW, Winder, GA 30680). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
