He was predeceased by: his parents, Windel Atkinson and Myrtle Atkinson; and his siblings, Wilma Jean Budro and Terry Atkinson. He is survived by: his wife Diane R. Atkinson of Warm Springs; his children, Danny Atkinson, Jr. (Julie) of Woodbury and Jennifer Ellison of Montgomery, AL; his brothers, Walter Atkinson of Smiths Station, AL and Lonnie Atkinson of Greenville; his grandsons, Blake Atkinson, Hunter Huey, Christian Atkinson and Remington Power; his great grandchildren, Primrose, Michael and Astrid; and his friend Glen Davis.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Raleigh Methodist Church (167 Raleigh Rd, Woodbury, GA 30293). A memorial service was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 6:00 PM at the same location.
