He is survived by: his wife Dixie Davenport Thacker; his children, Nancy Palmer (Michael), Michael Thacker and Susan Medellin (Rich); his grandchildren, Lauren Palmer Freitag (Joshua), Lillie Palmer Bamberg (Terrence), Molly Thacker, Kaleigh Medellin and Griffin Thacker; his great grandchildren, Quinn Freitag, Ezra Freitag and Hendrix Bamberg; and his siblings, Vickie Higgins, Ray Thacker and Dana Kolb.

In Lieu of Flowers, the family prefers that friends make donations to the Alzheimer's Foundation in Duane's memory.
