He was predeceased by : his father Emmitt Lee Mathews; his siblings, Jeannie Self (Tommy) and Willis Lee Mathews; his great-nephews, River and Harvard Brodnax; his niece Adrian Dawson; and his grandparents, Willis, Jessie Mathews, Eddie and Alene Davis.

He is survived by : his mother Jean Baugh; his sisters, Laurie Gilbert (Hubert) and Lisa Greene (John); his nieces, Heather Brodnax (Joel), Amanda Mathews, Meredith Greene (Chris Bellew) and Hannah Greene; his great-niece Natalie Dawson (Charles Speir); his great-nephews, Gage Hovey and Reeve Brodnax; his sister-in-law Laurel Mathews; and his pet Lola. He is also survived by the dog and Daisy the cat; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation was held on Saturday, May 4th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Antioch Baptist Church (2269 Yatesville-Barnesville Rd, Yatesville, GA 31097). A memorial service was held on Saturday, May 4th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
