She was predeceased by : her parents, Jesse West and Ella West; her children, Ella Susan Atkinson and Robert Atkinson Jr.; her daughter-in-law Lisa Barlow Atkinson; and her siblings, Patricia West Dent Krick and Jesse West Jr..

She is survived by : her husband Robert Atkinson Sr. of Young Harris; her children, Grady Atkinson (Heather) of Chickamauga, Kenyon Atkinson (Mitzi) of Commerce, Paul Atkinson (Jessica) of Longmont, CO and Camille Smith (Alton) of Cumming; and her sister Barbara Bone (Bob) of Young Harris. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.

“Mrs. Atkinson was such a great person & teacher. I used to come over to the huge, historic house in Roberta with Ella (another angel) when we were in high school together. There was so much good family energy in that house, & I always felt welcome. Mrs. Atkinson & I stayed in touch after my graduation & into my adult life. She is a special person who touched many lives, including mine, and will be greatly missed. Prayers for strength and comfort for the family in the coming days.”
