We are sad to announce that on June 14, 2025, at the age of 95, Kazuto Okinaga of Hilo, Hawaii, born in Pepeekeo, Hawaii passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid farewell to this luminous soul, let his loved ones carry forward the torch of his memory, illuminating the path ahead with the warmth of his love and the brilliance of his spirit. Though Kazuto may journey beyond the horizon of our sight, his essence remains woven into the very fabric of our being — a guiding light in the darkness, a beacon of hope in the night.
He is survived by: his children, Amy Matsui (Jason Hashimoto) of Hilo and Carl Okinaga of California; his siblings, Ernest Okinaga (Lucille) of Honolulu, Sharon Abreu of Honolulu and Irene Yamakawa of Honolulu; and his brothers-in-law, Ted Sasamura (Janet) of Hilo, Melvin Sasamura (Judy) of Oahu and Clyde Sasamura (Marian) of Aiea. He is also survived by three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
