He was predeceased by : his children, Sandra Medeiros and Sherwin Taka. He is survived by : his wife Sylvia Taka of Hilo; his son Stuart Taka of Honolulu; his sister Victoria Chan (Vernon) of California; and his sisters-in-law, Eloise Farr of Hilo, Elaine Ugalde of Nevada and Geraldine Embernate of Hilo. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
