He was predeceased by: his parents, Petaia Salanoa and Tumua Salanoa; and his siblings, Litarina Atuatasi (Tumanu), Legalo Maiava (Peni), Leinatiotuitoga Matautia (Fonoti), Tasele Aneki Tui (Iosefa), Tofiga, Toleafoa, Manuopuava and Luaafe.
He is survived by: his children, Jerry Awana and Lokelani Kaalele; his grandsons, Makoa Kaulia Kaalele and Kaulia Sunshine Kaalele; and his siblings, Vao Salanoa Petaia (Feftai Sagapolu), Ake Sooalo (Lasi), Lina Alaelua, Vita Salanoa and Faaleaga Toliniu (Fatu). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.
