He is survived by: his wife Susanne "Susi" Paleka; his mother Carolyn Paleka; and his siblings, Raymond "Budgie" Grillot (Gladys), Alaka'i Paleka (Chyna), Donny Kimi (Tami), Dallen "Kelii" Paleka (Laurie), Kaui Paleka-Kama, Kim Kimi (Mikee), Kealoha Nearman (Mike), Rolande Paleka-Kennedy and Michael "Kaleo" Haleakala.
He was also a former Puna District County Council member; Member on the Board of Directors for the County Fire Commission and B.I.S.A.C. (Big Island Substance Abuse Council); and Board Member for Hawaii Rise Foundation.
