It is with sadness that the passing of Helen Schnell of Ackley, Iowa is shared. Helen, born on May 6, 1939, passed away on September 16, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Calvin Brown and Roma Brown (Effner); her brothers, Calvin Brown (Phyllis), Carrol Brown (Patty), Bill Brown (Harriet) and Bob Brown (Lucille); and her nephews, Bobby Brown and Brian Benson.
She is survived by: her husband John Schnell; her daughters, Brenda Schnell of Montezuma, Janece Uhlenhopp (Mark) of Harrisonburg and Judy Abbas (Kevin) of Geneva; her grandsons, Dustin Uhlenhopp (Abbey), Cody Uhlenhopp, Nathan Uhlenhopp and Tyler Uhlenhopp (Krystal Nelson); her great grandchildren, Myles, Arlo, Georgia, Scarlett, Marilee, Alijah and Hunter; and her sister-in-law Lila Gruelke of Allison. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 20th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Sietsema Funeral Home (501 10th Ave, Ackley, IA 50601). A funeral service was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 2:30 PM at the Washington Reformed Church (28188 Birch Ave, Ackley, IA 50601).
