He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Devries and K. Muriel Devries (Miller); his parents-in-law, Christian and Zola Steen; and his wife Barbara George.

He is survived by: his daughters, Christil Schwebke (Terry) of Austinville and Emberley DeVries of Cedar Falls, Iowa; his stepdaughter Alissa George (Chad Martin) of Hampton, Iowa; his grandchildren, Jacob Schwebke, Dakota Schwebke, Karleyanna DeVries, Haley Schriber-Paz (Effren), Gunner Martin and Breanna Kellison (Jordan); his great grandchildren, Genevieve Schwebke, Nevaeh Schriber, Brennen, Maximino, Kaiser Paz, Caden Martin-Bon Schmit and Gannon Kellison; and his sisters-in-law, Janet Steen, Helen Steen and Darnell Eichmeier.

He donated gallons of blood at different blood drives and was called upon by Ellsworth Hospital in Iowa Falls to donate in critical situations.
