She was predeceased by: her parents, John Carolus and Anna Carolus (Harms); her husband Arnold J. DeVries; her brothers, Harvey Carolus (Grace) and Claire Carolus (Dorothy); Wilbur Gronewold.

She is survived by: her children, Verda Clifford (Scott) of Ackley, Doreen Meyer (Lyle) of Aplington, Sheila Andersen (Dick) of Iowa Falls, Rhonda Flaherty (John) of Phoenix and Ronald DeVries (Sara) of Ankeny; and her sister Joanne Gronewold of Ackley. She is also survived by Fourteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren.
