He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Mike Sr., Diane Ernst and Bob Coe; his stepfather Allen Reynolds; his aunt Jennifer Flores; and his uncle Shawn Christensen.

He is survived by: his parents, Michael Oscar Ernst Jr. of Guthrie Center, Iowa and Billie Jo Ernst (Christensen) of Adair, Iowa; his siblings, Brad Patterson of Moses Lake, Washington and Mariah Ernst of Adair, Iowa; his grandmother Charlotte Acker of Des Moines; and his uncles, Mark Ernst (Paula) of Waukee, Mitch Ernst (Christi) of Adair and Daniel Christensen. He is also survived by many cousins, other relatives and friends.
