He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Grabau and OraLee Grabau (Noland); his wife Normajean Grabau; his brother Zane Byron Grabau; his siblings-in-law, Francis Grabau, Mary Robertson and James "Buz" Robertson; his niece Mimz Anna Grabau; and his close friend Jeanette Haars.
He is survived by: his children, Beth Grabau of Adel, Allen Grabau (Linda) of Williamsburg, Joel Grabau (Candi) of Robins and Jill Grabau of Bettendorf; his grandchildren, Tia Eggers (Will) of Marion, April Smith (Chuck) of Marengo, Levi Grabau (April) of Williamsburg, Celina Young of Columbus, Chase Grabau (Ashley) of Des Moines and Morgan Jennings (Warren) of Jewell; and his great grandchild Constance Smith of Marengo. He is also survived by great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Missouri Military Academy or the Blue Ribbon Foundation.
