He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Smith and Virginia Smith (Hill); and his grandson Joshua L. Neubert. He is survived by: his children, Jim Smith (Yukiko) and Karen Neubert (Jeff); his grandchildren, Kalyn Ohano, Nathan and Aiden Smith; his great grandchildren, Colton Ohano, Taylor Ohano and Adrian Moore; and his siblings, Terry Smith, Diane Suiter, Vickie Filmer (Ron), Linda Rastetter (Phil) and Gary Smith (Mary). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the Rosehill Cemetery (2655 Preston Ave, Rockwell City, IA 50579).
