He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Gerard and Dorothy Leann Megchelsen (McCreedy); and his brother-in-law David Malenke. He is survived by: his wife Karen Megchelsen of Ainsworth, Iowa; his children, Rachel Carstensen (Zach) of Ainsworth, Iowa, Renee Davis (Derek) of Columbus, Nebraska and Trent Megchelsen of Elk Horn, Iowa; his grandchildren, Kase, Oliver, Lily and Brynn Carstensen; and his sisters, Sara Megchelsen (Rob Horning) of Stillwater, Minnesota and Mary Malenke of Maple Grove, Minnesota. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 23rd 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Ainsworth Community Church (322 Washington St, Ainsworth, IA 52201). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 24th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
