He was predeceased by: his father Jack Runnells; his grandson Charlie Hornback; his sister Terry Runnells Wilke; and his brothers-in-law, David Stern, George Rebol, Randy Metzger and Scott McFarland.
He is survived by: his wife Jo Runnells; his children, Richard Runnells Jr. (Dakota Hanley), Jennifer Hornback (Mark) and Amanda Buckingham (Justin); his grandchildren, Alex, Lydia, Henry Hornback, Collin and Cadin Buckingham; his mother Marilyn Runnells; and his sisters, Rhonda Strife, Sandra Stern and Becky Runnells. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 at 3:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Sinnott Funeral Home (2030 IA-5, Albia, IA 52531). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
