He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Harris and Wilma Harris (Edgington); his sister Sandra Trissel; his brother-in-law Dan Smead; and his nephew Daniel Trissel.
He is survived by: his children, Stacey Tawney (Russ) of Cedar Rapids and Ryan Harris of Albia; his grandsons, Aidan Tawney, Jackson Tawney and Dalton Harris; and his siblings, Linda Smead and Jeff Harris (Lisa). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial has been established to the Welcome Home Soldier Monument in Albia.
