He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Sr. Stewart and Alice Stewart (Cook); his siblings, Virginia Bakalar and Paul Stewart; his brother-in-law Jim Willetts; and his nephews, Paul David Jesperson and Randy Jesperson.
He is survived by: his siblings, Wilbur Stewart (Janet) and Marsha Willetts. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
A memorial has been established to the Welcome Home Soldier monument in Albia.
