She was predeceased by: her parents, Richard Perry and Ellen Adele Jones (Frazier); her husband Larry Dean Chidester; her granddaughter Laura Chidester; and her brother-in-law Norman McClurg.

She is survived by: her son Larry Basil Chidester (Shea); her grandchildren, Lexi Castro (Riss), Katy, Sarah and Samuel Chidester; her siblings, Wayne Randall Jones, TinaMarie Joy McClurg (Chris), Cook and Wally Franklin Jones; and her close friend David Beakler. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews, and a great nephew.

A memorial has been established to the Carnegie-Evans Public Library in Albia.
