He was predeceased by: his parents, John "Jack" Sr. Schatzman and Clara Schatzman (Schaper); his brother Bill Angel; and his sister-in-law Patty. He is survived by: his grandson John III; his partner Suzana Taylor; his children, DeAna Schatzman (Andy Morris), John Schatzman III (Lindsey), Roger Taylor, Meagan Calkins (Kenny) and Cody Taylor (Emilie); his grandchildren, Emrie, Audrie, Ainsleigh, Julian, Josie, Miles, Ava, River and Khoa; his great grandchild Ophelia; his siblings, Allen Angel, Jackie Karsjen (Denny) and Jolene Mayer (Dusty); and his sister-in-law Becky.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home (1209 Iowa Ave W, Marshalltown, IA 50158). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
Memorials in John's name may be directed to his family for a later designation.
