He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Swearingen and Marjorie Tenney (Eggers); his sister Sandra Jo Kelley; and his niece Tari Carkhuff. He is survived by: his nephew Randy Carkhuff of Kansas City; and his close friends, Denny Weaver and Mary Pyle.
