He was predeceased by: his parents, William Butt and Addie Butt of Ackley; his wife Velma; his son Jerry; his siblings-in-law, Martha Lehrman, Franklin Backes, LaVern Meinberg, William Noelck, Melvin Lehrman, Edgar Heitshusen, John D. Scott and Don Magdefrau; his niece Jan Magdefrau; and his nephews, Dean and Mark Heitshusen.
He is survived by: his son Brian; his sister Ruth Noelck of Hampton; and his sisters-in-law, Alice Heitshusen of Williamsburg, Luella Scott of Solon and Frances Magdefrau of Belle Plaine. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests memorials be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Alden, IA or the Franklin County 4-H foundation in Hampton in his memory.
