We announce the death of Barbara Wempen of Algona, Iowa, who passed away on October 30, 2026, at the age of 75. Barbara will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Glenn and Margaret (Koekenhoff); her brothers, Gene and Dale Opheim; and her nephew Austin Opheim.
She is survived by: her children, Dave Wempen (Kristi) of Adrian, MN and Jody Cink (Tony) of Wesley; her grandchildren, Ella, Drew Wempen, Madelyn Groen, Katelyn, Treyton and Carter Cink; her sisters-in-law, LuAnn Opheim of Emmetsburg and Debbie Opheim of Cylinder; and her brother Dan Opheim (Kim) of Cylinder. She is also survived by 2 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 1st 2026 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Trinity Lutheran Life Center (520 N Garfield St, Algona, IA 50511). A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 2nd 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:15 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church (520 N Garfield St, Algona, IA 50511).
