He was predeceased by : his parents, Leroy Thilges and Agnes Thilges (Manthi); his sister Darlene Zwiefel; and his brother-in-law Darwin Koepke. He is survived by : his wife Delores Dodds-Thilges of Algona, IA; his stepsons, Bob Dodds (Mary) of Montrose, IA, Rick Dodds (Julie) of Humboldt, IA, Ronald Dodds of Algona, IA and Ryan Dodds (Stacy) of Lone Rock, IA; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Dodds, Jesse Dodds (Aubrey), Lindsay Jenkins (Aaron), Allison Horton (Ricky), Alex Dodds (Nani), Tyler Dodds (Cassidy) and Vanessa Trampel (Kody); his great grandchildren, Grayson Jenkins, Linden Jenkins, Camden Jenkins, Autumn Dodds, Sinclaire Dodds, Olivia Horton, Izzy Horton, Wyatt Dodds, Kaia Dodds, Emersyn Dodds, Pierce Trampel and Finley Trampel; and his sisters, Donna Grein (Ronald) of Mason City, IA and Doreen Koepke of Algona, IA. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Oakcrest Funeral Services (218 S Moore St, Algona, IA 50511). A rosary was held on Wednesday, April 17th 2024 at 6:45 PM at the same location. A Mass was held on Thursday, April 18th 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Divine Mercy Parish ~ St. Cecelia (715 E North St, Algona, IA 50511). A graveside service was held on Thursday, April 18th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
