Nicholas left this world on April 25, 2025 at the age of 85, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, Nicholas Berte and Josephine Berte (Dentzer); and his siblings, Margaret Laubenthal, August, Adam, John and Alfred.

He is survived by: his wife Nancy Berte of Algona; his children, Karla Waltman (Rick) of Clive, Kathryn Martin (Kelly) of Humboldt, Patrick Berte (Nancy) of Algona, Peter Berte (Sachiko) of Clarksville, TN, Paul Berte (Nancy) of Pocahontas, Kristi Helmers (Jason) of Algona, Brian Berte of Eldridge, Jason Berte (Deanna) of Algona and Nicole Berte of Charles City; his siblings, Delores Arndorfer (Richard) of Bancroft and Edmund Berte (Mary Ann) of Algona; and his in-laws, William, Lois Bormann of West Bend, Janine Berte of Livermore, Judy Berte of Algona, Eleanor Berte, Louis Laubenthal, Dorothy Berte, Shirley Berte, Joann Berte and Kaye Blumer. He is also survived by Twenty-three grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 29th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Oakcrest Funeral Services (218 S Moore St, Algona, IA 50511). A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 30th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Divine Mercy Parish ~ St. Cecelia (715 E North St, Algona, IA 50511).
