With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Douglas Dean Downs of Allerton, Iowa, born in Chariton, Iowa, who passed away on April 26, 2026 at the age of 66. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Evelyn Downs (Duden) and William V. Downs; and his father-in-law Joseph William Buckingham. He is survived by: his siblings, Billy, Vicki and Jan; and his grandchildren, Chase, Shailey, Bella, Elsie, Landen, Ellie, Bensen, Dakota, Estella and Esme.
A rosary was held on Thursday, April 30th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home-Corydon (303 E Jefferson St, Corydon, IA 50060). Visitation was held on Thursday, April 30th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Friday, May 1st 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Allerton Centennial Building (101 S Central Ave, Allerton, IA 50008). A burial was held on Friday, May 1st 2026 at the Allerton Cemetery.
