Evelyn Lydia Downing Obituary

We announce the death of Evelyn Lydia Downing (Altoona, Iowa), who passed away on June 6, 2026, at the age of 98. Evelyn will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry Helmick and Irene Helmick; her husband Ralph Downing; her son Roger Downing; her granddaughters, Rhonda Barns and Holly Downing; her sister Lorraine Lough (Johnny); and her siblings-in-law, Harvey, Marilyn Downing, Reed, Marilyn Inman, Janice Stufflebeam and Martin Zylstra.

She is survived by: her children, Ronald Downing (Cindy) and Nancy Palmer (Al Binning); her siblings-in-law, Bill Stufflebeam and Sue Downing (Darrell); her grandchildren, Craig Downing (Pam), Mart Downing, Stacy Downing and Greg; her great grandchildren, Tiffany, Zach, Jacob, Antonio (Camille), Courtney, Cody and Casey; and her great great grandchildren, Veda, Apollo, Brynlee, Coison, Sawyer, Tayven and Morgan. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
