With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Velma Weir in Altoona, Iowa, born in Armstrong, Iowa, who passed away on March 20, 2024 at the age of 93. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Harvey Eckholm and Loretta Eckholm (Mitchell); her husband Jack Weir; her daughter-in-law Deb Weir; her siblings, Sylvia Gentry, Marlene Latham and Marvin "Pete" Eckholm; and her son John Weir, Jr. (Elaine) of Spencer.
She is survived by: her daughters, Gloria Short (Raymond) of Marion and Lisa Stallman (Greg) of Altoona, Iowa; her grandchildren, Chanda Weir, Tanya Wheatley, Paul Wheatley, Eric Weir, Matt Weir and Jeremy Weir; and her sister LaVonne Blom of Algona, Iowa. She is also survived by 17 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren.
