Betty Ellen Waters Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Betty Ellen Waters (Ames, Iowa), who passed away on October 31, 2025 at the age of 93. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Howard H. Richey and Minnie Talkington Richey; her husband Bill Waters; her brother Skip Richey; her grandson Matthew Aratani; and her siblings-in-law, Joe Waters, Jim Waters, Bill Tormey, Dan Waters, Norm Schulz, Mary Waters (Joe), Lois Waters (Jim) and Margaret Tormey (Bill).
She is survived by: her children, Joan Waters, Jeff Waters (Carol), Julia Flathers (Tim), Deb Aratani and Amy Davis (Terry); her grandchildren, Kari Kazer (Joseph), Kristen Parsons (Samuel), Torin Waters (Danelle), Tyler Aratani, Cole Aratani (Haley), Derek Waters, Alexander Aratani (Davis), Ana Davis, Chad Davis (Kelly) and Greg Davis; her great grandchildren, Eva, Elspeth, Jonas, Wyatt, Maret, Margaux, Lenora, Willem and Jensen; and her sisters-in-law, Ann Schulz and Mary Richey. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Ames Public Library Friends Foundation or the Ames Education Foundation (Lunch Heroes), in memory of Betty Waters.
