He was predeceased by: his parents, Kitty Schmidt (Wormley) and Dan Schmidt; his grandchildren, Daniel, Zayne, Finley, Tyson and Sydney; his wife Chris Youngblade; and his siblings, Julie Schmidt Urban of Davenport, Ann Vose (Doug) of Mankato, Mary Collins (Bill) of Davenport, Tom (Jay) of Atoka, Sarah Paller (Scott) of Davenport, Mike (Becky) of Wilton, Beth McCrann (Pat) of Denver, Dan Youngblade (Brigid) of Sioux City, Alan Youngblade (Rhonda) of Centennial, Mary Scott (Kelly) of Johnston and David Youngblade (Julie) of Dallas Center.
He is survived by: his sons, Brian (Hannah) of Gilbert, Brad (Megan) of Chicago, Erik (Stephanie) of Littleton, Danny (Joelle) of Ames and Ames Trenching.
In lieu of flowers, two Memorial funds have been established in Dan's name: the Dan Schmidt TKE Scholarship, ISU Alumni Association and the Israel Family Hospice House, Mary Greeley Foundation.
