He was predeceased by: his parents, John A. Ehler and Lillian G. Ehler (Johannsen); his wife Marilyn Sue Cook (Wright Patterson); his grandson John (Jay); and his great grandchildren, Gabriel and Caleb Ehler (Curtis).

He is survived by: his sons, Jeff Ehler (Ruth), Jay Ehler (Denise) and Ted Ehler; his grandchildren, Curtis Ehler (Jeff), Karen Kuhns (Jeff), Lily, Haley Ehler (Ted) and Mitchell Ehler (Jay); and his great grandchildren, Asher, Corban, Gracie Kuhns (Jeremy), Joshua and Hannah Ehler (Curtis).
