He was predeceased by: his parents, Ward Swanson and Mary Swanson; and his nephew Jeff Swanson. He is survived by: his wife Mary Jo; his children, Jay Swanson (Lori) of Ames, Rob Swanson (Jessica) of Huxley, Julie Stevens (Aaron) of Waukee and Amy Finn (Patrick) of Glen Ellyn, IL.; his grandchildren, Jack (Lydia), John (Celeste), Jeffrey, Madeline, Reagan, Simone, Elliott Swanson, Luke Stevens, Emma, Henry and Maeve Finn; his great grandchild Eloise Swanson; his brother Ward Swanson (Diane); and his niece Jennifer Parson (Dave Denton) of Denver.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 12th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Northminster Presbyterian Church (1416 20th St, Ames, IA 50010). A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 13th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
